On a busy street in Magnolia Park, Burbank stands Studio Hope Boutique, a charming thrift shop with a heart as big as its mission. From the outside, it looks like any other building on Hollywood Way — but step inside and see colorful window displays, shelves of vintage treasures, original artwork, gently used books, sparkling jewelry and racks of curated clothes. You’ll also discover something magical: a sanctuary of second chances.

Studio Hope is more than a store. It’s a movement—woven together by people whose lives are shaped by challenge but not defined by it. The shop exists to support people living with kidney disease, orphaned pets seeking loving homes, and a place to build a community. Every thread, every trinket, and every teacup hold a story. And every story finds its way into the hopeful hands of someone who needs it.

At the heart of Studio Hope’s spirit is Lori Hartwell, a warm soul with an unshakable belief in the power of community. Diagnosed with kidney disease as a child, Lori has weathered countless storms. But rather than let the struggle dim her light, she uses it to illuminate a path for others. Over 30 years ago she founded the Renal Support Network, a beacon for people navigating life after being diagnosed with kidney disease, offering education, encouragement, and the invaluable reminder that they are not alone. A highlight each year is the Renal Teen Prom, where young people gather for a night of celebration, dancing, and making friends.

Together with her husband Dean—an equally passionate advocate—Lori created Paws Fur Hope, a heartfelt pet rescue devoted to saving orphaned animals and giving them a second chance. Many of the pets come from heartbreaking situations—abandonment, neglect, or loss—but through the care of foster families and the promise of forever homes, they begin to heal. With each rescue, Paws Fur Hope writes a new chapter of hope, where love replaces fear, and every animal is given the life they deserve.

Studio Hope is more than a thrift shop—it’s a warm, inviting space where every item tells a story and supports a greater mission. As visitors explore its thoughtfully curated aisles, they uncover more than just vintage treasures and unique finds; they become part of a community that uplifts people with kidney disease, finds loving homes for orphaned pets, and brings comfort to those in need.

Here, donated items aren’t simply recycled—they’re given new purpose. A once-forgotten mug becomes someone’s favorite morning companion. An old camera inspires a teen to see the world through a fresh lens. An original artisan necklace brings joy. An original art piece shines a light on creativity. Each purchase helps fund vital programs, from education for dialysis patients to support for people with kidney transplants, to foster care for rescue animals.

What truly sets Studio Hope apart is the quiet magic of second chances—the way people and pets alike rediscover their worth, their place, and their joy.  And those who walk through the doors—whether shopping, volunteering, or seeking connection—leave with more than they came with. All proceeds benefit 501 c3’s PawsFurHope.org and RSNhope.org

In a world that often rushes past what’s worn or broken, Studio Hope stands as a gentle reminder that with care, compassion, and a little creativity, everything—and everyone—can bloom again.
